Don't be deceived by this picture.
Yes, Peter and I were taken with the supreme cuteness of finding our boys cuddling together asleep but the cuteness comes at a price! These little boys (it seems) need to spend every last bit of energy before collapsing into this blissful sleep.
Some nights are better than others. The comments from the previous post were very helpful... we are just going to be laid back about it... look for the humor in it and enjoy it. (Thanks!) Occasionally they go to bed with very little fuss... and occasionally they are up until 10pm with new shenanigans But on most nights they play for 45 minutes (getting into trouble twice) and end up asleep somewhere. Clothed or not. In bed or not . But asleep.
And I am thankful!
A few of the aforementioned shenanigans:
- Turning on their bedroom light in the middle of the night. This is a feat in and of itself since they have to climb onto of the rail of Gabriel's crib and do a balancing/jumping act to get the switch. And it is annoying when they are going to sleep... but it is much worse at 3:30am! Gabriel did this for some reason and David and Mama were NOT amused.
- Last night they found a box of swim diapers and so stripped down and tried a bunch on. They probably ruined 10 swim diapers in all because they pulled them up (i didn't know they could do this) as if they were pull ups except that they put both legs in one leg-hole and thus stretched them majorly. But when we found them doing this, they were having a ball... talking of how they were going to the pool at Papas. It was pretty funny.
- Also last night (I forgot) they broke one of their leaves... giant canopy leaves from Ikea. They are basically a sturdy version of those play tents and they snapped the ribs of the leave. I was surprised and am not sure how they managed it because the leaves have survived tons of play already and are very durable. Oh well. I am sure they will break things much more dear to me someday... :)
They are SO adorable sleeping next to each other! And the stories of what they do pre-sleep and/or middle of the night is funny funny funny! Though Paul and Josiah sleep in the same room on bunk beds, they do not pull near the stunts that David and Gabriel do!! Josiah is usually asleep in 5 minutes now because he hardly naps anymore. I cannot WAIT to see them in action when we're all together for Thanksgiving. Can you imagine what they would do if Paul, David and Gabriel were all in a room together before bed. It would be like triplet 2 year old boys up to major mischief!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer. I am so glad you boys don't get into too much trouble together at bed time. Peter has mentioned before how growing up all the cousins would often sleep together in the same room and i do think it would be chaos if we attempted that this year :) It will be so fun to see you and your family!!
